David Fincher?s adaptation of Chuck Palahniuk?s cult best seller has changed modern cinema forever. Not only has it raised the bar in editing and cinematography but it?s also stuck it?s two fingers up at lazy producers and the concept of the Blockbuster action movie. A movie has always got to make a profit, but it should never be the main drive behind a production. Fightclub opened up a lot of eyes in the industry as to what could be achieved. It?s also one of few productions that defied the critics by filming an ?Un-filmable book?, and to its credit, many young and gifted film-makers have followed suit and underground/Cult literature is finding its way into cinemas. Fincher had never really received the credit that was due him, even after the success of Seven. Now I think it?s safe to say he is in the top ten of best directors working today. Fightclub is a modern classic and an important, seminal masterpiece.

First we have Trainspotting, then in nineteen ninety nine we have yet another narration classic called Fight Club. Strangely I felt like Fight Club took me to a very similar place as Trainspotting, yet again it handles dark subject matter at times but gives it a certain tone of strong hilarity. Edward Norton suits the role with his natural wimpy vibe and Brad Pitt undertakes his role with amazing precision. Pitt already had the charisma so it probably wasn't a big task in that respect but he pushes extra hard for qualities that really should of earned him an oscar that year. Soundtrack suites the film's strange vibe. The overall sound in Fight Club is ace and you can really see why it got nominated for best effects, sound editing. What strengthens the sound is it's fast pace and light style, it's indeed a great mixture. Storyline is very original, it takes familar material but extremely modifies it to a wonderfully detailed proportion that will make you question your life in a way. So overall Fight Club remains my favourite David Fincher film for obvious reasons. I recommend it to those who liked Trainspotting and other great narrated films.

A top class satire of modern American culture and male masculinity. This is Pitts greatest role in his acting career as the mysterious anarchist Tyler Durden. He's so good at playing charismatic wackos. Norton was outstanding also. My favorite David Fincher film and one of my favorite plot twists in a movie.

"First rule about Fight Club is that you don't talk about Fight Club". The story, the acting, the photography, the directing, the musical score and the little hidden parts in this movie to help understand more are all very creative, intelligent, and awesome.! "Second rule about Fight Club is that you don't talk about Fight Club." "Third rule of Fight Club, someone yells "Stop!", goes limp, taps out, the fight is over..." Admittedly this should be credited to the novel, is interesting throughout and easy to follow. It is unique, unordinary and fascinating. "Fourth rule, only two guys to a fight..." "Fifth rule, one fight at a time, fellas..." This is a great movie. I mean it's hard not to be with a great writer like Chuck Palahniuk and then add Brad Pitt and Edward Norton. Come on, i don't see how you can lose with that combination. "Sixth rule, no shirts, no shoes..." "Seventh rule, fights will go on as long as they have to..." Fincher's direction, especially in the memorable and iconic final shot, is excellent. It is hardly flawed at all, and is especially effective in the excellent ending, which is worth the entire running time just to see. "And the eighth and final rule, if this is your first night at Fight Club, you have to fight..."
